Having impoverished through on the fabled Rugged Vinyl mark in the early months of 1997, the space age reasoned mechanics of Torgeir Byrnes tore through a superfluity of tympan & bass luminaries including Juice, Audio Couture and Creative Source before finally subsidence at Paul Arnold's Certificate 18 imprint for his debut solo album Black Science Labs. The longplayer brought a farther gustatory sensation of off world disfunction with dim electronic soundscapes explored by robotic wash up probes, precisely engineered at Byrnes' studio in his hometown of Bergen on the w coast of Norway. In the early months of 2001, Teebee established the Subtitles mark with chap Norwegian Kjetil Saagstad. Coming complete with earnest graphics and unusual running titles, the basslines of the Teebee produced debut "Assembly", drifted like smoke thrown and twisted up from a swirling percussive dervish with to a great extent reverbed key sequences underpinning Photek-like beat touches. The mark has continued to outsmart its generation, Byrnes focusing towards the floor as Saagstad provided the abstraction. Though his moment album for Certificate 18, Through The Eye Of A Scorpion, proven well-nigh indistinguishable from his debut – his expertise in contrasting eerie instrumentation with heavily reverbed melodic tones which twists amongst nappy rhythmic architecture attracted yet more followers to his sound.
